About this service project

You’ve seen our tweets and our posts about this service project and are wondering what it is all about. Well I am so glad you asked…

This month in Milwaukee alone approximately 100 children may be removed from their homes and placed into foster care. Often times these children come to a foster home with only the clothes they are wearing. Sometimes they come in the middle of the night making it more difficult to just run out to the store and get what is needed.

Our service project will provide these children and the foster families with a 2 gallon ziploc bag of clothing. Inside will be one pair of pajamas and one outfit with a card telling them about OneHope27. Outside the bag will be labeled with the size of clothing and if it’s for a boy or girl. These bags will be placed in a paper box and compact enough for intake workers to keep in their vehicles to have available when they drop a child off at their new foster home.

We have received a number of generous donations of gently used and new clothing and pajamas for our project already. We could certainly use more especially in all boys sizes (up to size 16) and girls (size 5-16). Maybe you’re able to hold a pajama drive at your child’s school, maybe you’re willing to shop the clearance racks and donate some clothing or maybe you are too busy for any of that but want to help contribute financially, contact us at info@onehope27.org with how you would like to help. These kids and their foster families will forever remember that someone took the time, the recourses and the Love to put together some clothing for them for the moment their life was at it’s worst.
