5 questions with Meredith

1) What do you want to tell us about your family?

We recently expanded to a family of five so right now our family life is filled with lots of laughter, tears, diaper changes, trying to get the toddler to keep his pants on and sweet newborn smiles at 3 am feedings. It’s a crazy stage of life but I wouldn’t want to be in it beside anyone other than my wonderful husband, Jeff.

2) Why is it important that the Christian community be involved in foster care?

Scripture is full of passages that exhort us to care for the fatherless, for orphans, for the downtrodden, for the oppressed. It’s hard to come up with an excuse for the church NOT to step in and care for kids in need of a home. To me the best reason, however, is that foster care is a beautiful picture of the Gospel. Like most kids in the foster care system, as Christians we too were once without hope and trapped in a desperate situation that was too big for us to fix ourselves. We too needed Someone to step in and pull us out of our desperation and through no merit of our own graft us into a loving family. The Gospel should compel us to extend this same grace and love to those in need in our community.

3) Ice Cream or Cupcakes?

Cupcakes- with lots of frosting!

4) What is your favorite Passage of Scripture?

2 Cor 12:9-10 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

5) What was the last song you listened to?

The theme song to Winnie the Pooh
